The following review is about one of the online shopping sites known as ‘Myntra.com’. I am a certified buyer of this site and I will try my best to provide a non-biased opinion.There are pros and cons of buying from an online site. I have faced both with Myntra. I came across Myntra through Facebook. I clicked on the ad and was redirected to the site. I had NO intention of buying.
The site took some time to load all its contents. After it had fully loaded I was quite pleased with the interface. It was simple. I browsed through a lot of things, beginning with the Women’s Clothing section. The site was visually appealing. I saw somewhere on the page that if I signed up using my Email I would be given INR 1000 worth of vouchers and if I connected to Myntra using my Facebook account I’d get INR 1500 worth of discount coupons. I clicked on the Facebook icon and I was given 3 discount coupons worth INR 500. I could use this to get a discount on a minimum purchase of INR 1500. However, it was also mentioned that this would not be applicable on discounted items.
After getting the discount coupons, I went back to my window shopping. I picked up a dress and a purse. I entered my address, email id and phone number. Placed the order and used a coupon code successfully. The difference between Myntra and other sites is that you won’t need to ‘Confirm’ your order by waiting for a call from them or calling them yourself. I found that hassle free. I was given a tracking number to a well-known courier later on (approx. within 24 hrs). I tracked my order 48 hrs after placing the order successfully. Myntra promises to deliver within 5-7 days. I received my products within 4 days. I was satisfied. They delivered what they had promised and before time too! I was impressed as well.
I started shopping with Myntra. I started receiving products from their in-house courier service, i.e. Myntra Logistics. The only trouble I had with them was that I could not always ‘Track’ my order. Sometimes I received products from them before any information had been entered about the shipment. But they always gave me a call and checked about my convenience and availability.
But there was a time when I ordered a hand bag and received a defective one. I gave them a call. The customer care executives were very friendly and helpful as well as apologetic. They advised me to access my Myntra account and place a ‘Returns Request’. I did the same after my ‘Order’ status was changed from ‘Pending’ to ‘Delivered’. This took some 2 hours from the time I received my product. I placed a ‘Returns Request’ and was given a ‘Returns Number’.
I dropped a mail to ‘returns@myntra.com’ as well complaining about the defective product along with a photo attachment pointing out the defect. I received prompt replies from various Myntra departments apologizing and assuring me that I would get a refund in my Myntra account as ‘MYNT CREDITS’. MYNT CREDITS would be credited to my account after they have received the returned product. I had read all about their returns policy and it seemed very legitimate to me. A reverse pick up was arranged since my address was covered for it. But I must admit I got a little impatient and annoyed when I did not get any call from the pick up agent within 24 hours. I gave Myntra a call telling them that I was feeling hassled and since I wanted the same bag again I wanted this process to take little time, for I feared the bag may go out of stock. The executive assured me that I would get a call very soon and if the product that I wanted went out of stock, they could credit the amount back to my bank account too. That put me at ease a little bit.
I received the pick up on the very same day and to my surprise I was given my MYNTRA CREDITS on the same day! I placed the order again and I received a non defective product within 24 hours! The returns request, pick up, MYNT CREDITS, replacing the order and redelivery of the same product happened within 48 hours.
Even though I personally prefer Myntra.com and have recommended it to several people and friends, there are certain things this site needs to work on:
Tracking is sometimes not possible since the data about the shipment is not updated, if it is through MYNTRA LOGISTICS, their in-house courier.
Sometimes product details are not entered or the details provided are insufficient. Myntra.com needs to improve the ‘Product Description’ section. Photographs are important but not enough since we buy online.
Myntra.com does not provide ‘Try and Buy’ as far as my knowledge goes. They need to implement this since all other sites, which have their own in-house courier service, provide this facility.
The filter option is okay. It can be improved.
One great thing about buying dresses from Myntra.com is that they provide customised size charts for different brands. I have not seen this anywhere else. This really proves helpful since all brands do not follow the same size chart. Another great thing about Myntra is that the customer care service is exceptional.
My overall experience with Myntra is good. I definitely recommend this site for authenticity, great brands, a stylish stock and a hassle-free online shopping experience.
To avoid unnecessary hassle you may want to consider the following things before you shop online:
Check if your pin code is covered by the online site for a reverse pick up in case you receive a damaged product. If not, it’s better to not shop from the site unless it’s absolutely necessary.
If you like taking risks by buying products that do not have any or enough ‘product description’, keep your mind open for surprises as well as shocks. Sometimes you may buy a product just because you like the way it looks on the pretty model shown in the site, but when you get the product you may get disappointed with the material. This works the other way round too, that is, you may like the physical product a lot more than what has been depicted in the site.
Buying vibrant colours from online sites can be tricky. Your PC or laptop screen may show a shade different than what it really is. It is covered under the ‘Terms and Conditions’ of all online sites that you accept before can create an account, saying that colours may vary. However you can return the item if you are not satisfied, but it’s not something anyone looks forward to.
