On a recent trip to Mysore with family, our children(aged 8 & 4) were done with seeing palaces, Vrindavan gardens, zoo etc. and wanted some ‘real’ fun.
I knew there was GSR park but felt that kids may not enjoy all the rides as most of the rides are for grown ups. Then we came across FUN FORT, which we were told is much smaller & targeted at kids. It is about 15km from Mysore near Srirangapatna & they at present have free transportation from Mysore & back.
The park has many theme areas like, Toyland where Noddy & friends(statues) are placed, Egyptian area, Baghdad with Aladdin’s genie etc.
It has a few live animals like goats, rabbits, emus & ducks. There are a few rides targeting small kids. There is also a lake with boating facilities. We went there on a weekday so it was less crowded. The best part is that it also has a small water park with a wave pool & other rides.
There are 2 restaurants, one serving veg, and the other non-veg food at not so astronomical prices
My kids simply freaked out on the Bungee Trampoline Jump. At 6pm they have a small show, which includes a magician’s act, a clown, a juggler & an acrobat.
Tip: - The entry fee is Rs.240/adult & Rs.150/child, which entitles unlimited rides. There is a scheme that between4pm- 6pm entry fee is Rs. 150 & Rs.100, but the catch is, the water park area closes at 6pm, moreover the rides are charged @ Rs.10-15 plus there is an entry ticket to the circus show.
Overall we were happy with the ambience, hygiene & safety of the park, and would recommend a visit esp. if you have young kids.
