Dance?

Well! The movie is all about aerobics really? as for about dance- well! Yeah! They dance a bit, little here n there. While Antara Mali stretches her best? words like ?big passion for dance, professionalism? n blah don?t make her ?kasarat? look very sacred. You can go watch it to check out Abhiskek.

Naach has a good story. I won?t get much into technical details but one thing that strikes you the most is the camera angles and lights. It’s shot like an art film in the 1st half an hour. As the ?falling in love?, ?galm n fame? come in the picture it?s shot like a commercial film.

The basic story is ? 2 strangers apply for different jobs in the same production company in the glam world, get introduced in the bus, he wants to learn dance? she (jobless as ever) agrees? he gets a role in a commercial film? he tries to help her, but she takes it as an insult of her professional approach? ego clash? Breakup.

She is approached by a director (Rhitesh Deshamukh) for a video album? based on the theme ?NAACH?? proves to be a big hit?

Fact that Antara gets all the fame without AB?s (Abhishek Bachhan) help kind of shakes him up? to add to that rumors about antara n Rhitesh?s affair get him jealous. The trio comes together for a musical but AB decides to quit since he is too jealous to see two of them together? And then Antara breaks her ?maun? with AB? Rhiesh walks out.

Antara is ?supposed to? be a powerful character, a composed person? well that?s what the dialogues say. For a person to be very passionate and theorize in life ? it takes a lot of knowledge? and as I understand? it brings certain maturity on the face of that person. For Antara its ?mature n composed? equals to ?keeping a straight face?.

Bottom line- she has failed at acting?

And that really kills her character in the movie.

Rhitesh Deshmukh would score some female fans with his changed look in the movie? and if they could dub his voice? he?d get some more fans, but can?t ever overpower AB in the frame same. Every thing just hides behind AB?s personality. He carries his character with ease? n comes across as very powerful a person than even the female. Girl in the story has much stronger character than AB?s but thanks to bad co-actor, he is noticed more obviously.

SL Bhansali has tried his best to sell Antara Mali giving her a powerful role, in a very good script. So has Antara tried to make her mark by 1) showing some skin 2) some silly stretches which have nothing to do with dance 3) working out (I admire her for that though) 4) job done on her breasts 5) yet wear pads?

But! She just doesn?t have it in her.

To speak of things I really liked in the movie? some of Antara?s colorful costumes, most of the dance sets, some of beautiful shore scenes;

Like from song ?bandhane lagi? - the sculpted body wearing a full length white skirt n a red tube top, laying on her tummy and waves falling off the bare part of her back? that?s one simple scene spoilt by her ?Bandar chhap? smile.

Anyways! Coming back to what I liked

AB starring ? ? thokar me hoga jahan ye sara? - Comparison of choreographers- Difference between what Antara imagines and the ?circus? some other choreographer puts up. That really is the only sensible scene to make Antara look talented. Other wise? her rejecting to choreograph for a mushy mushy filmy song, her ’jaherila naach’, hritesh?s talk about her having a vision ahead of time and powerful sense of dance n blah? there is a lot of crap like that.

Well! Getting into details of the story/ music/ techno/ or anything at all- there is enough matter to criticize, and enough to appreciate. I?d like to discuss n debate instead of giving my opinion in an essay.

I suggest you watch the movie anyways! It?s a good film and Abhishek Bachhan is one hot thing on screen?
