Are you too much onto your daily work and looking for a change? Do you feel the need of a break to rejuvenate? Well, here comes the series of long weekends along with the festive season:)
Now the moment I say take a break what are the top five things come in your mind which are must to be addressed! For me those are - Duration, Destination, Mode of transport, Accommodation and booking.
Accommodation is very important as the others are. What if I don’t get booking at the desired hotel or what if I have not done a good ground-work and end-up in a lousy place? Just imagine no hot water or limited hot water while visiting a hill-station! How about opting for a hotel which is far from the central location and den of insects:D May be you are smiling when you are reading the examples here but actually these can spoil the entire fun!
Other day I remember someone asking me about the accommodation in Ooty. The thought came in my mind why not to share my experience also to earn few points before I head for my vacation.
Personally I feel opting for a place at the central location has its own advantages. Like I look through the window or walk out and see the place rocking. Or all eating outlets are within reach and need not to opt for the same food everyday in hotel restaurant.
We were on our way from Kurumba Village [https://mouthshut.com/review/Kurumba_Village_Resort_-_Nilgiris-139917-1.html] and decided to spend a day in Ooty. And that being completely unplanned – we had no idea on where to put up etc. The regular place is little far and we decided to opt for a place in n around Charring Cross. Went to have a look at Nahar and loved it immediately. Nahar not just being centrally located, with polite and helping crew and the cleanliness made me close my choice over Nahar. I must tell having flies and a damp smell in rooms - is most common in hotels in hill-station which I found they had taken care well.
Nahar Nilgiris & Nahar Residency – are the two buildings within the same premise with Chandan Veg Restaurant, the Garden Café & the very attractive Side Walk Café. They have a Parking place within the premise which is big enough. Rooms are big - well decorated, clean with 24 hours hot water facility. I have never experienced power-cut during my 3 stays there. The huge aquarium and the fire-place – are must to stop and spend sometime at the reception area. Few steps and am out in the market place. One can walk around the cross and enjoy the chill breeze without thinking much on how to go back to hotel.
One can enjoy the variety of Dosa n other south Indian delicacies at Garden. Where-as Chandan - the multicusine restaurant offers unusual tandoor delicacies along with North and South Indian dishes. Sipping tomato shorba in the warm & cozy atmosphere@ Chandan is very much referred. And I can’t miss mentioning the fresh salads@Side Walk. The fresh baked pizza and fresh juices are just un-avoidable. The yummy cakes and chocolates are irresistible but those are slightly costly than the other near-by places.
The officials are efficient may be it in terms of arranging sight seeing or getting warm drinking water in the mid of night.
Few not to be missed:*
Spending time in front of the aquarium
Trying hot coffee at Garden Café in morning
Shawarma @ the counter right in front of hotel
Rum chocolate @ Side Walk
Looking out through the window when it is dark outside
This one is for Bhupesh who is planning to visit Ooty soon [Bhupesh, hope you are not changing your destination to find me for revealing your plan on MS:D]
