During my visit to ooty in July, 2009 I had stayed in Nahar Nilgiris. Though I didnt have any plan to stay in Nahar Nilgiris Initially, as I had Hotel Dasaprakash(now acquired by Mahindra) and Woodlands(under renovation)in mind, were not available.
I had option of selecting low budget hotel however non peak season and doubt on the hotel service made me select Nahar Nilgirs on Charing cros road. Local autorickshaw wala had rumors of hotels that I had asked for but then he realized that I know more hotels and he ran short of stories.
Nahar Nilgiri is centrally located and shopping places are quite nearby. I wanted a Single room where all 4 family members could stay together so finalized on 1 Double Bed room. Hotel Staff was ready to reduce the rates as it was off season. I paid roughly 3500 per day. They said they are giving a discount of 700 per day.
Rooms were very neat however some basic neccessities were missing. Hot water was not available, no heater facility(It was rainy and used to be chilling in the night). No place to dry clothes(as it was raining outside).
Room Service was not upto mark. The good thing that I liked was the restraunts that Nahar had and
the food quality. The Hotel also provided Transport service for sight seeing at fairly decent price.
Food was available round the clock but slightly expensive. Internet acess was not working and the staff was not sure what would be best reason that could be given.
I could look some places like Rose Gardden, Tea Factory/Chocolate Factory, Tea Garden(Connor) in ooty and in Rainy season Ooty was pretty good. I had an assumption it is not good time to visit ooty in rainfall. I couldnt take the toy train for its timings may be next time.
On Nahar Nilgiris.i would say it is Ok Hotel but slightly expensive for the services they claim to offer.
