Naksha is an action adventure set in jungles, mountains, caves and deep ravines.
The film promises Indiana Jones kind of adventure in which the protagonists search for hidden treasure with the help of a map. Naksha (Map) stars Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Sameera Reddy and Jackie Shroff. According to the films producer Akshay Bajaj, Naksha is based on a theme that hasnt been explored in Bollywood so far. The film tells the story of a young man named Vicky (Vivek Oberoi) who discovers an ancient map to a secret that has remained hidden for centuries. Assisted by his half-brother Veer (Sunny Deol), Vicky embarks on a perilous journey to unravel the mystery. In their search they are joined by a TV reporter Riya (Sameera Reddy). As the trio treks through the inhospitable jungle, they come across many life-threatening situations and are kidnapped by a tribe of pygmies. And there is also a greedy and evil archeologist (Jackie Shroff) who wants to foil their plans.
The movies director Sachin Bajaj made the actors do the daredevil action scenes themselves.
In one such scene Sameera Reddy is shown jumping off a cliff at the height of 2000 ft. The actress was very nervous before shooting the scene as she suffered from the fear of heights. But because she had signed the contract with the director, Sameera mustered courage and jumped off the cliff.
In another scene, Sunny, Vivek and Sameera are shown sailing on a raft through the rapids. The scene shows the raft turning turtle and the three actors falling into the bone-chilling waters.
Sameera says that in all the action scenes Sunny Deol gave her tremendous support, encouragement and guidance. Vivek, on the other hand, played pranks that often scared her.
For instance, in one scene in which Vivek and Sameera are shown in a cable trolley, Vivek scared her by pretending that the cable of the trolley was about to snap and they were going to fall in a deep gorge.
The film also has a fight sequence involving as many as 100 pygmies. The sequence comes when Vivek, Sunny and Sameera are kidnapped by a tribe of pygmies in the thick of the jungle. There is also a song sequence, Yamla Jat, in which the pygmies match their dance steps with Sunny.
