What could have been an audaciously dumb decision to release this over-ambitious flick of Vipul Amrutllal shah when World Cup is at full swing, actually turned out to be a smart one since whole of country was looking at some respite after shameful performances by their chosen fifteen. And Namaste London provides with the entertainment which we all are harping from that fateful day of 23rd March.
This is not a Cricket pitch so I would rather review the movie of the week: Namaste London BHELPURI: The story of the movie is the mixture of dozens of movies that we have seen over the years. What makes this Bhelpuri tastier is the presentation of this cliched-story (full marks to Vipul shah) and not to forget the spicy on-screen chemistry between two entirely different individuals Kats and Akki.Punjab to London: If we thought each and every corner of Punjab and London has already been shot by our film-makers in last few years then this might change our pre-conceived notions. Hollywood heavyweight Cinematographer Peter Field is the man in charge for showcasing London in entirely new look and believe me its worth a dekko.
And not to forget the greenery of Punjab with a true scent of apni Desh ki Mitti.NASAL Banaya Apne: It seems everybody try hard to hate Himesh Rishammiya but he somehow manages to come trumps most of the time. And the sound track of Namaste London is no different. Chakna Chakna and Rafta-Rafta are already chartbusters, Main Jahan bhi rahoon is made must-hear by sheer brilliance of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Aanan Fanan and Veeraniyaan can be heard couple of times. Rests are just pain to ears, space fillers in Audio CDs and break to grab a popcorn and cola while watching the movie.
All in all, first time combo of Javed Akhtar and Himesh rocks.Waah Kya Scene hia: Few scenes stands out amidst others: Rugby Match, Akshay boasting abt our country, Rishi Kapoor in search of his son-in-law to be and ending up with three of hilarious Jokers and Akshay first tête-à-tête with Katrina are to name the few.Shahs Troop: Without a tinge of doubt film belongs to Akshay Kumar. He is the one actor who has grown as an actor with true sense of the word. And last few of Akkis flicks are the testimony of the fact. Hes undisputed king of soft-humor on-screen and has done exceedingly well in emotional scenes too.
Katrina Kaif is playing an extension to herself, speaking in heavy British accent with plastic emotions most of the time. But she is that damn gorgeous garnished by beatific smile on her face that I really dont mind her doing this kinda roles. Yess!! She is improving with each and every outing. Rishi Kapoor is the biggest welcome relief, atlast he got the role that he deserves. Hes surely to tickle ur funny bone or two by enacting Punjabi lost in Glitz-n-Glamour of London.
Asif Sheikh has a miniscule role and Upen Patel.....well I reserve my comment for Shaka-laka-boom-boom which in his own words is his real launch-pad.Harjeets Verdict: If you are pass-out of the school of thought that the movie is good if it makes you come out of the theatre with a smile on ur face, then this one is a must watch. For all those skeptics who are ready with their dissection box, stay away from theatres and use them in WC-Super 8 Matches.
