One of our colleague got a heart attack and was unfortunately referred to Nanavati
Hospital by Guru Nanak Hospital. On the 1st day itself they charged us 60 k and told us
that the patient does not have time and needs to undergo heart surgery immediately.
When I asked them about the Angiography results and I want to have a look at them,
the doctor told that its not yet done. When I asked the doctor as to how they can
recommend a Heart Surgery without even doing an Angiography. The doctor did not
reply to my question. I was shocked and told them that I need to move the patient out
to another/different hospital. The doctors told that they cannot allow moving the
patient to another hospital as his condition is serious. And wanted me to deposit another
1.5 lakhs(initial amount) for the operation. After consulting doctors outside with the
reports that we had, we were told that the patient’s condition is not that bad. The
doctors at Nanavati made us wait almost for 1 day and later allowed to take the patient
out only when we told that we will register a legal complaint.
We took the patient to the best hospital in Mumbai and after Angiography, we came to
know that Open Heart Surgery is not even required. I am surprised to see as to how
unethical practices in Hospitals can be, and how far they can go for their selfishness.
