Nandi Hills_Weekend Getaway

The plan was on for a few months now, but never happened. So last Sunday afternoon with a deadline from the two women in my life off(Thank god, the younger one is just a year old!) we went picnicking to Nandi Hills. Took the outer ring road and then the airport road straight out. The traffic was heavy considering the day and time and not very relaxing with lane changers and rash drivers all in a bunch, but eased out after the airport deviation.

We had to travel around 10-12 kms further before a signboard indicates Nandi hills on the left side . a further 23 kms more. The drive was easy paced and the hill just bursts up in front of your face. A left turn and a right turn later we are climbing up the hills.

Almost up the hill we stopped for entry  ticket for the climbing higher and we were there. A very scenic place and lush green. The temperature was easily 5 deg lower than Bangalore.

The things we liked were the climate, the personal space even with all the crowd and the greenery all around. There were no signboards once we reached the top and had to ask for the famous tippu point and the temple. There are only a few eateries up there and they were extremely crowded and not very hygienic.

Once the sun went down the place turned very serene and the lights of Bangalore lit the sky; Wonderful! Very difficult to imagine a place this close to Bangalore and having such a calmness to it. Will recommend for a family picnic or a drive up the hill(car or bike). Worth a visit.
