I am an avid milk hater. I have had this thing against milk in its pure form since times immemorial.. err.. well, lets just say even from my good old childhood days. The fact that I simply love guzzling down gallons and gallons of various adulterated concoctions of it (especially when it has that heady addictive caffeine added in) is however a different story. Also, I prefer not to talk about mysterious depletion in the contents of dairy freshener cartons though they are hardly ever used in tea or coffee at my place. While my mom strongly suspects underhand tricks of .. ahem!.. an outgrown kid, I scream my throat hoarse passing the blame on my neighbour’s cat. (What? Don’t tell me you never knew cats ate milk powder besides of course drinking milk?! How ignorant of you!)
I have already confessed my weakness for coffee and tea above. But there is another category of milk that has found an appreciation from me. It is the Flavoured Milk.. and the particular brand I am going to drill about is Nandini.

What is NFM?
------------------------------------------------------------
Arey, NFM = Nandini Flavoured Milk.. simple huh?! (And I thought, by now you must know well about my penchant for abbreviations..).
Lame jokes apart, Nandini is a large and very well-known brand of milk in Karnataka which is a product of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). Every housewife is a Nandini product user.. be it Ghee or Cream, every kid in the block relishes Nandini Mysore paks & Pedas and every man is a Nandini man.. err.. umm.. I guess that’s stretching it a little too far. But what I mean to say is almost every household is a Nandini customer in one or the other way. And from the house of this popular group comes sterilized flavoured milk NFM - a nutritious, healthy, all-season, wholesome drink.
I have had the pleasures of enjoying it in flavours like pineapple, rose, badam, pista while another intrigue sounding ‘natural orange’ still eludes me. Taking the author’s birth right liberty of digression and meandering, I want to mention here another similar health drink that I found pretty amusing during one of my overseas visit. Blame it on age catching up, but I have forgotten the name of the brand. However, what was interesting were the flavours which went like.. Simple choco, Wicked choco, Screaming wicked choco, Jamaican choco tornado etc. I have had it the day when Nandini comes out with choices like Roasted badam, Golden brown roasted badam, Shrieking nutty badams and so on.

Why NFM?
------------------------------------------------------------
Because I am a health freak (Please stop sneering! I am solidly researching that Coffee and Tea are indeed health beverages).
Because I hate the feeling of irritatingly rushing carbon gas in my nostrils when I am forcibly trying to gulp down those stupid colas.
Because I do really enjoy its refreshing taste, cool touch and feel-good-nature afterwards.
Because it doesn’t burn big holes in my pockets costing only reasonable Rs. 12 per bottle (vis-à-vis Anand Bhavans Badam milk that is Rs.22 per chota glass).
And the best value add is I don’t feel guilty for damaging my anatomy like I do while drinking other pesticides.

Where is NFM?
------------------------------------------------------------
Available in cute handy bottles of 200 ml and also plastic pouches, you can locate it in any of those Nandini milk bars, Nandini cool corners, Nandini milk booth, Nandini centers.. basically any place that sells Nandini products… I hope you got the point. These centres are sprawled all over the place like mushrooms (at least 5 such joints within a kilometer’s distance in Vijaynagar) so you need not go on any adventurous exploration for the same.

For the next set of questions on When? and How NFM?.. you please decide for yourself.. as its getting late for my afternoon tea already.
