Nanking is a landmark in secunderbad for Chinese food but not any more. People in Secunderbad/ Hyderabad love this place, long queues outside the restaurant will certify my claims. Any given point of time you can see people waiting in a queue.
I hate Nanking and its only because of my family I choose to go there, I have been visiting Nanking since the late 1980s and I have seen a drastic change in their service, Nanking is not the same, atleast the service. Gone are the days when waiters would greet you with a smile. When i walk into Nanking now i get a feeling that the staff is not happy having me at the restaurant.
Food and Presentation: Food is delicious at Nanking, no denying that. crisp chicken, mixed fried rice and Schezwan prawns are my favorite everything else is average and nothing unique.
Presentation: Horrible, worst, disgusting ill need to find a better word
Ambience & Decor: The restaurant looks like a classroom in a school. Guys please do not take your girl to this place because the tables are so close to each other you can never speak to your girl in private and if its your first date then trust me it will be the last one.
Customer Service: Well Nanking is an expert is setting standard as to how a customer service shouldn’t be. I went to Nanking with my mother yesterday (02/06/2010) and mentioned below is what happened.
Walk in to the restaurant; no one will open the door for you. My mother is 61 years and she was struggling to open the door and no one helped her till I came by (i had to pay the auto). We walk in and stood for 10 minutes, nobody attends us. Then I go to the reception (if you can call that one a reception in the first place) How many times do you see a reception desk at the end of the room (Again, Nanking setting standards) and ask the guy at the desk for a table and he didn’t bother to answer and when I asked him again a waiter came by and asked me to try at the next building (Nanking has two sections, making the service twice as horrible) . No that I have realized that there would be no one to open the door I helped my mom get into the restaurant. its already 3:00 p.m and my mom is running late by 1 hour. She is diabetic and needs to have her lunch on time. We wait for 10 minutes and then luckily we get a table.
Time to Order: My mom ordered for crisp chicken and rice and I ordered for schezwan prawns. But later cancelled crisp chicken. We wait for 20 minutes and finally the waiter gets the order and to our horror we see a heap of fried chicken served at our table. We called the waiter and complained, then comes the Steward and he starts arguing with us and blames us for confusion and get into an argument and then I walk upto the reception and protested. The steward started murmuring (kya log hai, Kya admi hai, Order seda nahi detha) and that was it. I walked back to the reception and paid the bill for the food that I ordered (because my mom had started eating the rice) and left the place fuming swearing not to come back to the place again. I felt sorry for my mom but it wasn’t my mistake I couldnt take a waiter pointing fingers at me and being sarcastic, what ever may be the case.
How can some one point a finger or say things that the waiter told me. I work in a MNC and we often go for team lunch in good restaurant and hotels and when we walk in they greet us with the warmest smile and they are happy to have us since they know we are helping their business. They take care of all our needs and seldom argue even if its our mistake. For me its the service that matter. People socialize when they go out for lunch be it your family or your love we go out to restaurants to socialize and have fun and the food just a part of it. I believe when we dine it the socializing that we enjoy and good food adds to it.
Overall, experience is horrible and I do not recommend this hotel even to my enemies. But there is one thing which I will never deny is that the food is good. Try Hiking Himayatnagar I think thats a better place to be little expensive. But at least the service is better.
