Touted as "The most shocking thriller of the year"....My expectations really ran high...beacuse I love thrillers...
And the top of it...it was directed by the very talented directors and my favourites......Abbas-Mustan...my expectations touched the sky!!
They have given us splendid films like "Baazigar", "Soldier, "Ajnabee", "Humraaz" and "Aitraaz"...And their last outing "36 China town", though not such a tough material...did really well at the Box-office....so NAQAAB, their latest outing..had to be special!!
Naqaab is a film with enough Twist’n’turns to keep you engrossed till the last frame of the film....especially in the second half...
The best part of the film is that the story is crafted in a very intelligent mode...till the pre-climax...and the film takes a whole ’U’ turn in the last 10 minutes...thats the real high point of the film...
The camera following Urvashi all over keeps you on tenterhooks that what is going on!!!
and the when the suspense is opend..it comes like a full-fledged surprise!!
The main problem with Naqaab is that the suspense..though innovative and different...doesnt work...especially with the "aam-junta"....this film belongs to the multiplex culture totally...Though it(the suspense) takes you by complete surprise..it actually looks....Stupid(to be more precise).
But then the 10 minutes after the suspense is out..is really interesting...right till the end....It moves in a really fast manner...it doesnt really give you time to think.....The whole exercise..Bobby confessing the game plan, the award function(s), Urvashi firing the gun, Trapping Akshaye’s friends...right till the end..its a joy ride!! These scenes really do you a favour...by confirming that your money isnt wasted!!
Abbas-Mustan are back in action....the film has the stamp of the master story tellers...you feel like your watching a thriller which is being directed by experts....but Mr.Directors, please do not choose such scripts in future...they may hamper your status...
Story-Screenplay is innovative and interesting..there is no denying that it is a ’hatke’ film...
Cinematography is fine...it captures Dubai mangificiently..
Music is bad..."EK din" is the only good song..Background score is good and keeps you engrossed..
Bobby deol is perfect for such a role...he plays his part with conviction..
Akshaye khanna excels with his part..his exprssions when he’s eith Urvashi...are perfect!!
Urvashi Sharma makes a conident debut..she gives the right expressions...another good actress to loo forward to!!
At the end, Naqaab is not so bad!!
