Naturefresh Atta, as the name suggests, is flour, which is fresh, as fresh as freshly grind flour. The name does not suggest whether it is made of wheat or any other cereal, or a mixture of wheat, Bajra and any other cereal. Two reviewers, have different opinions on Naturefresh Atta. Anuradha does not like it for the reasons she has mentioned in her Review. The other Reviewer, Dinkar, says that his wife likes it. To sell Naturefresh Atta, a packet of Tata Tea is offered as a gift. These are all the marketing gimmicks.
The best way to get fresh Atta is to buy good quality wheat from the grocery store. Wash it thoroughly and dry it in the sun. After it is fully dried, take it to a Grinding Shop, and get it in the form of atta. Store it in a clean and dry container. This atta will give you perfect knead for making chappaties, parathas, aluparathas and even frying crisp purees. My favourites are aluparatha and crisp purees with aludum. This is usually my breakfast on a Sunday. On other days it is thin rotis and omlette.
When I was working at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, Dr. M. S. Swaminathan was the Director. He and Dr. Dakshinamoorthy, Head of the Agricultural Physics Department, were responsible for breeding successfully a type of high yielding variety of wheat called Sarbati Sanora to which Lysene (Vitamin) content was injected by radiation. Those were the heyday of Green Revolution in the country, thanks to the untiring efforts of the farmers in Punjab and Haryana.
Therefore, I will always go in for good quality atta. And if I can get IARIs nod on the particular brand of atta, I am buying, nothing like it. Fresh atta always brings freshness.
