You can write your own resume

After reading through several posts, I wish if I had been through this before falling prey to Naukri. My experience is not different from others. If I look back, the resume developer’s contribution was just limited providing me a template or formatting the content. I have worked on my resume almost 95%. The resume developer was not even bother to check grammar. He was too shabby who was just interested in concluding writing and forwarding it for further actions. He even initiated other process before acknowledging my final go.

During my interaction with them, I have now at least learnt to write resume. I think I can even start my own resume development service, pun intended. Anyways, just to offer a piece of advice to those who are considering engaging recruitment services from Naukri, Monster etc. please DONT do it, instead you may consider engaging professional advice from private consultants which may be slightly expensive but at least worth it. For those who wish to write their resume, you can very well do that on your own and here is how it is. It always depends what you would like to sell – is it your technology experience or management experience. The order in which things appears on your resume shall vary. Just look at an example below.

1) Begin your resume by your name contact number on the top, aligned center clear and visible.

2) Next, briefly describe what you are seeking for, example position, industry, location

3) Professional synopsis: This should include a summary of what kind of experience you have had so far. Always use a Verb to define your actions, for example:

a. A dynamic professional with over 5 years of rich experience in technology encompassing Customer Support, Account Management, IT Help desk, System Administration, Network Administration, Web Development on Microsoft Technologies, Pre-Sales, and Training.

b. Demonstrated excellence in: Something here, Another thing here

c. Comprehensive experience in, or proven ability in, Distinction in, Adept in, distinguished ability in

4) Then provide Employment details in reverse chronological order starting with most recent ones first. Provide company name, designation, tenure, Deliverable, highlights etc.

5) Conclude your resume.

Before you begin writing your resume, it is essential that you should browse through few job portals and identify which job can you fit in and then check what is the most common thing each employer look for in a position and then compare it with your expertise and then try to match with it. You can chose wordings from JD and try rephrasing it.
