Most of us who have hunted for a job, inevitably have an account on the job hunting sites like Naukri, monster to name a few. I believe, these portals are an essential element of any job search today, and are indeed useful.
All is good till you decide to fastrack your search through their very eloquently described and suitably packaged resume services.
Speaking of resume service offered by Naukri, I have just one word for it, "useless". I bought the following services: Resume Display, Resume Flash and Job mail. Let me share the premise they use for each service:
Resume display: This is supposed to increase the number of times your profile is viewed because it displays your profile on priority and in highlighted text.
Result: My resume views have doggedly stayed put at the numbers before I bought this service. I am receiving 3-4 times as may views on Monster.com, even though I haven’t bought any services from them.
Resume Flash: This is supposed to give you access to jobs that may not get advertised, and are closed at the consultant level.
Result: I have been spammed by e-mails irrelevant to my profile and level. Also, I am now receiving a lot more e-mails offering MBA courses and everything under the sun.
Job mail: This is probably the most farcical of all the services. They said I would get access to jobs 4 days before they get listed on the general search engine.
Result: I get the same jobs, that I have already applied for through the general search engine, that too at least 2-3 days after the job is posted in their general search database. It turns out they are using the same search engine as everyone else. However, since they send job mails only on Tue and Fri(at around 11:30 p.m. or later), any job that gets listed on Sat or Mon gets delayed.
Conclusion: This is a scam.
