Boss, Junior aur Naukri.com!

Here’s another review on advertise which is being aired on quite a number of TV channels. Well, it goes on something like this:

The Product – naukri.com (a job portal, guess all reading this must know)

Characters –

Pesky Boss (Let’s call him villain – as all bosses are!)

Junior (our Hero)

Sub 2 (Supporting actor – Subordinate to the villain & colleague of Junior).

Scene – In the villains chamber (the chamber shown is dimly lit, perfectly set in line with the ad theme – probably a gas chamber would look no better than this), the villain is reviewing (read throwing) papers given by Junior (Sub 2 is serving some eatable to our villain – another thing in line with the theme of the ad).

In the mean time, Villains assistant (sorry, missed 2 introduce her in the characters list) peeks in to inform of having got a hotel reservation help desk online (I assume it’s a restaurant!).

Event – Unable to understand the villain’s name, the person on the other side of telecom requests the villain to repeat the latter’s name.

The junior offers help to the villain to spell out name (Hari Sadu, tats his name).

Boss accepts! His biggest mistake!

Then the fun part follows. Junior thoroughly rips off the villain by expanding the latter’s name in the most obnoxious manner. This is how he spell’s out the boss’s name (expansively!)

H – Hitler (apt comparison for such a boss)

A – Arrogant (that’s the attitude the boss depicts)

R – Rascal (no comments!)

I – Idiot (another apt abuse for boss)

Aghast! The boss, sorry, the Villain is appalled. Just then, this turns up on the screen: ’’Guess who’s just heard from us? naukri.com. India’s No.1 Job Site.’’

Thereon, Junior proceeds to expand the surname. He’s searching for another perfect word.

Junior: “S for...”

Meanwhile, Sub 2 jumps in the raillery by offering: S – Shameless (In one word, this is how I would have had described too!)

Sub 2’s offer sounds like a cherry on the cake icing.

Awesome! For more than one reason, I liked this advertise. It was undoubtedly better than naukri.com’s competitor (remember that ad, Working for Peanuts? If you have a reason, we have the job!). I would advise “Peanuts” ad-maker to use naukri.com to pull some creative guys from the naukri.com ad maker’s stable!

Secondly, the advertiser has cleverly passed the message to all employers. Beware Employers – treat your employees well; naukri.com is on the prowl!

Seems that many people out there feel that this advertises has a negative impact actually. Well, I beg to differ with them. It entirely depends on which side of the lake does the (re)viewer stands on. I guess, all employers (read darned bosses, like the one portrayed in this ad) would find this advertise unacceptable, unethical, negative, blah, blah, blah! But seeing from the employee’s viewpoint, I found this perfect.

I endorse such treatment to this type of bosses. & if the ad-maker is sending a threat message to all employers, then I don’t find anything wrong in that. I would like to applaud him for that.

All in all, naukri.com has been able to not only by it’s advertise well, but also its product speaks for itself. Having got a job from their web site, I found the branding of this portal very successful.
