I have read a few articles dealing with the pop up advertisements on various sites and I have to admit I hate them too. So on that note, Id like to offer a suggestion. Its a program called Naviscope. You can purchase it or get a free download at https://webmasterfree.com/naviscope.html, but before you do let me tell you a few things about it and what you will have to do when using it.
When preparing to work on a personal website you will have to disable Naviscope for the time being. The reason for this is (as I have found) it wont allow the pop-up window to choose your category to work in. Also it wont allow you to upload. Its simple just disable, post, then enable again.
I also disable when reading my mail. If you leave it enabled while going into your mail it will ask permission before entering which makes for one extra step before entering your mail box. The program allows for no cookies but you will need cookies to get onto certain sites. Eliminating ads make for faster page uploads and more enjoyable reading time.
Naviscope will accelerate your web browsing, because it will block pop up advertisements, cookies and java scripts and monitoring connections and transfer speeds.
Have you ever went into a site and were bombarded with multiple pop-ups one after another. Ive been so frustrated by them that Ive not bothered to even go into the site. My own website (geocities/yahoo) has an advertisement each time I open it (not there when my Naviscope is enabled). It can also block backgrounds, flashing text, and sounds (no more annoying songs in the background unless you choose to listen).
It has a configuration toolbar, web tools, setup, blocking and history clear buttons. It can be individually configured to your liking and enabled or disabled at will. It will tell you how fast your internet connection is and keep your computer clock adjusted to the NIST atomic clock.
I feel each individual has the right to decide which advertisements they choose to checkout and I feel once one has been read it then becomes an annoying aspect of the sites I re-visit. So I love using Naviscope for easier reading and browsing pleasure. I am far from computer smart but I am a computer junkie so this program is definitely for me and it may also be of interest to you as well, check it out!
