Navjot singh sidhu is definitely a man who is making rapid strides in the field of cricket commentary. Though his commentary doesn’t look professional or anything like ’normal cricket commentary’, he is definitely a perfect entertainer. The best part of his commentary being his witty quotes which are so popular that people have coined a name for it.. The ’sidhuisms’. If you give this word a try on google you get more than a hundred hits. This shows the growing popularity. He is daring while commenting. Never restrains himself.
The qualities I like in his approach:
--> When he started to appear as commentator he wasn’t accepted at all by people. Mainly because of his weird accent and Desi style of speaking. Then there were no sidhuisms.
--> But he did not go back, he equipped himself with witty anecdotes.
--> Even that wasn’t instant success. In the early days he was not getting perfect timing. It was appearing something like memorizing some lines and saying them one at a time.
--> But now he has overcome all of that and executes them perfectly.
--> Earlier he used to repeat the same things many times. Now improved much better in that too.
--> He is the only commentator, I suppose, who does proper homework before coming to work.
He also managed a huge fan following.. No wonder if, after some days people forget that he once played for india.
Even I was feeling irritated to see sidhu commenting in the initial days.. but slowly started liking it and then became a fan..
No wonder if all the fellow commentators accept that his company cheers them up too.
