If you’re just entering Vashi, and ask someone for directions, there is a very good chance that Navratna restaurant figures in the list of landmarks directing you !
Ever since this restaurant has opened in Vashi, around 15 years ago, it has consistently made it into the top 5 restaurants. And rightly so !
So, what makes Navratna so wanted ?
For starters, as my friends have already pointed out, it is located right in the heart of the city. This has been the center of the evening shoppers and the commercial complex. It is very easy for the tired shoppers to wander around and land up in Navratna. Situated at 5 minutes from the Sector 9 bus depot, you just can’t miss it.
Getting parking in this area is an issue. In case you get it, it will be expensive.
Although it always seems to be over 70% full, I never had any issues in getting a table here within 10 minutes of arrival. Don’t bother reserving a table - you’ll only end up wasting your time.
The seating is neat; place is relatively clean. Though I must admit, I;d have liked it if they’d some way to keep the smoke and the polluted air out. Well - you can always go upstairs where they have the AC.
Nope - these guys certainly don’t waste money on stuff like ambience. They stick to their main product - the food !
The food is largely South Indian, although they do offer North Indian dishes too. I’d advise you to stick to the South Indian stuff though. That way you can enjoy your food without any complaints. Food portions are enough to fill you up - like most south indian dishes.
The service is quick and you’re not kept waiting for ages, although it is not the most friendly either.
I’d recommend this restaurant if you’ve not decided on any other restaurant in particular or if you’re in a hurry and still want to have reasonably good food.
