I was a firm believer in NDTV till a few days ago. I used to love their programming (in fact still the best in business). They, I believe, have the best set of journalists. They have a clear vision of their future. All these reasons made me a almost die hard fan of NDTV channels when it cam to news.
But, I slowly came to realize, that inside all the panache and suaveness, there lays a clear motive. NDTV is firm to the cause of communism. This in itself is not a bad thing and each and everyone is allowed to have their own views. But what I do abhor is their mixing news with their own opinions. In all their news (and not opinion) programs whenever there is news which has a shade of right-left conflict, they will pronounce their verdict, as to what the news means. This, I feel is wrong. I feel that they should leave their opinions to their opinion programs (where they have discussions) and the news should be solely for delivering news, as it happens, and without pronouncing their own verdict.
I understand that all the news channels and news papers have their own biases, but to put it across so blatantly, without any respect for journalistic ethics is totally unacceptable.
I feel that there is too much closeness between the Roys and the Karats (Brinda Karat is Prannoy Roy’s sister-in-law), to make nothing out of it. This again is not bad. But what is bad is, propaganda is being carried out in the guise of news.
The bias has become so much that I prefer not to trust NDTV with any news these days. I myself do not identify with the communism ideology and feel irritated by the continuous flux of left leaders (especially Brinda Karat) on their programs. This has made me distrust NDTV’s ability to provide me with clear, concise and unbiased news.
NDTV in my opinion does not miss any opportunity to lambast BJP on any ssue, and praise CPM or CPMs stand on any issue. I wonder what it does to issues that are neither left nor right.
Some time ago, a member called criminal, had carried out a review on NDTV. Till then I just had a faint idea of their bias, but after reading his review, It became a lot clearer. So thanks criminal for opening my eyes.
I also feel sad, as I know that no other channel can currently compete with NDTV with respect to quality. I already feel a sense of miss, when I watch news these days as the current crop of channels fall too short. I wish other channels could raise their standards to match NDTV.
This review is totally unlike me, I generally do not criticize someone or something to this extent. But I felt cheated by this approach of NDTV.
