I’ve had this album for ages ever since it came out. I just took a long time to write because I was waiting to see the movie. I didn’t get to look at the movie until recently because I don’t watch movies during the school term, so since it’s holidays I looked at the movie and I’m now ready to write my review.
Neal n Nikki
What a way to introduce yourself, through a song! And what a song too. Not only does it accurately describe the characters it is funny as well. It is well-sung by KK and Shweta Pandit. My favorite part of the song is where there is an instrumental piece of Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam (DDLJ) and then both characters say ‘nah.’ A piece that cracked me up. There is also a remix of this song, call N’N (the Naughty Mix).
Akh Ladiya
Shweta Pandit once more, but this time teaming up with Kunal Ganjawala. This song happens at the end of the movie where Neal dances with the girl his parents wants him to marry while Nikki looks on in jealousy. A wonderfully peppy song, sung wonderfully by both singers, and there’s also some English pieces to make it more fun. ‘dancing the night meri akh ladiya, the feeling is right, meri akh ladiya, party all night, meri akh ladiya, you make it so right, meri akh ladiya.’ Well I guess that’s also the piece I enjoy most in the song.
Halla Re
Before I say anything further, I must say it’s brave of Tanisha to have worn that skirt and blouse to dance this song. Boy, she’s one brave girl. That skirt was extremely short!
Anyways, it’s Shweta Pandit going solo this time. She sings with enthusiasm and life and gives and excellent performance.
I must say the song is suited to the atmosphere, as Nikki is attempting to seduce Neal, without bangles, bindi, and anklets, you know the usual stuff an Indian girl would be wearing. Excellent picturization and singing.
I’m In Love
Finally, my favorite singer, yippee. Sonu Nigam and Mahalaxmi Iyer team up to deliver a heart-stirring, passionate rendition of a most beautiful song. I’m sorry to say, though, I don’t feel this song was picturized the right way. It should have been picturized in a wonderfully, lovey-dovey, passionate atmosphere and not the way it was done in the movie where Neal and Nikki sings to each other lovingly just to make Nikki’s ex-boyfriend jealous. The only part that was given true credit for passion was the end of the song where Neal and Nikki looks lovingly into each other’s eyes and sings ‘you’re my dream, my love my light, I just wanna spend my life with you…’ My favorite part of this song is ‘soniya, oh rajana, chanda ra mein chaldi mein.’ And I just love the way Sonu sing ‘hai hai oh rabba, I’m in love.’ His voice makes me melt. Of course, this is also my favorite song in the album.
I Just Wanna Spend My Life With You
I guess you could say this is the English version of I’m In Love. The lyrics are purely English and very passionately sung. The lyrics depict love and heart-break in one beautiful song. I’m sure the western world has taken very kindly to this particular track, well the majority of it.
Ah, finally I manage to write a short review, but then it’s a short album. Eagerly awaiting your comments.
