Food is extremely pricey for the ambiance, taste, and the quality of service. The service staff right from the lowest to the manger level is unaware of how a group of people wanting to eat together and have a good time are to be treated. Seating for a group is extremely poor. They like to seat people in a single long row. Half of the group finishes while the other half waits for the first round of food to come, for a group that starts ordering nearly together!
This happened even when there were only a few customers around and many tables were empty. If we ask for manager to complain, the waiter points to an alley going to the kitchen and then disappears. He neither takes you to the manager nor brings manager to you. If you get worked up with the service being provided and dare complain to the manger after finding his cabin, you will not be even provided with the finger bowl at the end of the meal!
The manager at one point inadvertently justified not serving finger bowl for our complaining attitude and nonchalantly added that he has seen enough of these computer feedbacks (and he could not care less about them)! You can decide for yourself which way you are headed. People from nearby places such as IISc (Tata Institute), MSRIT, and the medical college who patronized this place in the beginning and helped it grow, and I am one among those, have the responsibility to shun it when it has ceased to serve its customers properly. I have decided to stay away from Neel as my way of protesting.
The management perhaps believes that people wanting to have a drink while dining with family, or a group with some members wanting to drink while others wanting to eat at a better place will still gravitate towards Neel, irrespective of the extremely high prices, average taste, and aggressive staff ready to give it back to you if you demand service!
