Neerja is a hard hitting, intriguing anecdote about the bravery of a young girl Neerja who intelligently saves life of 359 passengers on an air flight which got hijacked in 1986. It is based on true events. The movie takes you through the details of Neerjas presence of mind in the tense situation.
The movie does not go overboard witht the terrorist thing nor is unnecessarily dramatised. Each scene in the movie is very unique and the heart pouncimg silence created felt together with the crowd is worth experiencing in theatres.
Neerja is indeed the best performance of Sonam Kapoor till date. Her acting takes the movie a step ahead. Shabana Azmi is as always excellent as Neerjas mother.
The direction is gripping and the climax escape scene is something to watch out for.
It is, however, sad to know that the only Indian movie that ahows Pakistan in the good light has been banned there.
When the audience is reluctant to leave their seats as lights turn on, you know it is a must watch movie in theatre.
