Yesterday I had the worst experience of watching cricket on TV when I watched the India-South Africa one dayer on Neo Cricket. It is understandable that the channel wanted to maximize their earnings by squeezing in the maximum no. of ads in between overs. But playing ads in between balls in an over was taking it a bit too far. This went to such an extent that I had to miss seeing some balls. Many times they started playing ads after the 5th ball mistaking it to be the end of the over. Also in between overs, the ads were played right till the instant that the first ball of the new over was actually being delivered or the ball was being released from the bowlers hands.
Talking about timing. And when a wicket fell, these channel walas never bothered to wait for the replay to be telecast. The moment the wicket fell, the ads started playing. Perhaps the person controlling all this was promised a hefty incentive for maximum telecast of ads...but unfortunately at the viewers expense. I had to switch to DD national after a wicket fell to view the replay. You may ask why I did not continue to watch on DD national. That was because, time to time, they would switch to Hindi commentary, which I dont fancy at all. Hence I was forced to watch on Neo cricket. Also when there are some obstructions/interruptions they play ads. They dont understand that there are many moments which the viewers would like to watch in such cases. The nimbus group cares a damn about the viewers interests.
All they care is how to earn maximum money by playing maximum ads. If this attitude of the channel continues, I guess the BCCI should take notice and not give future telecast rights to the Nimbus group.
