Remember Ovaltine? Well there is Milo. It is a chocolate malted health drink made with malt sugar, powdered milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and a variety of powdered vitamins and minerals including calcium. Between Milo and Ovaltine, I think the latter tastes better, but maybe I’m a traditionalist.
Milo comes in a large can with an ugly green color scheme and a picture of an athlete painted on the side. It was launched sometime in the 1990’s as a competitor to Ovaltine. Through heavy marketing muscle, it has nearly taken over the shelves where Ovaltine once ruled.
Milo is more nutritious than drinking hot chocolate, but as for taste, nothing beats rich creamy hot chocolate. The only problem with Milo is you have to keep stirring it to keep the malt suspended in solution otherwise you get a large glop at the bottom of your glass.
