Netgear JNR1010...really topgear..

Hi friends,

Review on NETGEAR N150 WIRELESS ROUTER - JNR1010 model

I was planning to buy a basic home router for sharing my 2mbps cable internet connection. After a lot of search, I narrowed to Netgear and TP Link brands.

Cost: 1250 rs from a local dealer

(i had to spent 100 rs extra to change my MAC Address setting from my cable net service provider)

I had bitter experience with TP LINK router(TP-LINK TD-W8951ND 150Mbps Wireless N ADSL2 Modem Router), it had a very poor range, signal drops and hardly manages to reach 2 rooms. So I was afraid this may happen again. After enquiring my friends and even the computer sales person, I opted for Netgear JNR1010. Here is my experience with it.

RANGE: This is a the first thing anyone looks before buying a router. Well im totally satisfied with the range. It covers all 4 rooms, 2 corridors in my 2 BHK flat. I even found it in the parking lot(of course mine is 1st floor flat).

Do not expect a great range from a basic router. Its just 150 Mbps(max). So its strictly a basic home router for a small to medium house.

SIGNAL DROPS: I didn’t notice any signal drops so far in any of my 3 devices im using. But strangely my micromax canvas 2 often disconnects(surely a mobile issue) when I get normal signal in my laptop and galaxy tab.

VALUE FOR MONEY: Though it is Rs. 200/- costlier than TP Link basic router(TP-LINK TL-WR740N 150Mbps Wireless N Router), its worth buying.

CUSTOMER CARE SERVICE: Im very much satisfied with the way they clarified my doubts. They were friendly and polite. They guided me in configuring the device with my cable net connection.

ACCESSORIES: Nothing is provided in the box except for an useless CD with links to download a manual. I was expecting a stand to mount the router(since it is provided by netgear for customers outside India).

WARRANTY: 2 yrs warranty with online registration(but online says only 6 months warranty). Paradoxically the seller and local service centre guys told me warranty is for 2 yrs.

FINAL WORDS: If u r looking for a good router which is fairly basic and for a small to medium home with 4-5 rooms in 1 r 2 floors - go for it.

But if ur need is more than this, think of buying Belkin or Asus 300 Mbps with two antennas.
