About 7 or 8 years ago the radio stations over here in Sri Lanka started playing ?smells like teen spirit?, to me that was the initial drug to my destination. Our little island was exposed to their music but like in many other parts of the world it wasn?t accepted. Only a limited crowd knew the meaning behind nirvana.
Then one day I met this girl whom I thought was very unusual, I found something very different in her. She was from a foreign country and we became good friends and as time passed by we were able to see that our music taste were almost the same. That?s when we started exchanging tapes, and at that time the only way I collect music was to record air play. So she takes one my tapes and listens to the songs and she comes back the next day and says ?I have this nirvana album on tape which I thought you would like?. That moment ladies and gentleman was truly unexplainable to you guys. A fan would know. For the next few days I carried my walkman every where I went listening to the lyrics of some so called junkie.
Getting quite inquisitive about his lyrics and looking at his photo on the album cover showing his middle finger out I was wanting to know who this man was.
With years passing by I got to know a lot about nirvana, Kurt Cobain; how and why he died, and infact got my hands on another album of theirs. This time it was bleach.
?I?m worse at what I do best and for that gift I feel blessed?
This world still doesn?t accept or understand the voice of Kurt. With his torn apart childhood and mental condition of depression he chose his path to express his thoughts by writing poetry and songs. He was a gifted angel to write such https://lyrics.
In my view a lot of people see John Lennon as a father of rock, yes and I agree but he was the father during his years. In my generation Kurt was king and he ruled it well.
Right now I am having a bad hangover after yesterday?s bachelor party and I am sipping on my mum?s tea listening to Milk it. My mind thinking about how Kurt would have felt after a good heroine shot with a nauseous stomach ulcer. I guess its all that pain he experienced that came out as https://lyrics.
During the early nineties, the music industry was taken over mostly by pop, it showed a face of dying rock. This was and is still is, a way of money making commercial shit, not music. These days you see Britney in a two piece bikini looking dress coming on stage smooching Madonna, performing with Christina a dance which they learnt by visiting strip clubs in the UK. What I don?t understand is what music do they see in these wannabe sex symbols. Seriously I find hot actresses and porn stars more attractive than these female dogs. May be if they did porn I would then appreciate their work.
People, don?t take me the wrong way I was introduced to music by starting with pop, but a pop singer is what you call people like Phil Collins, Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, early mad Madonna.
In another ten years from today when this world looks back at a music review, they won?t be talking about N sync, back street suckers, or any other commercially driven dickless pussy faces. They will be talking about Kurt Cobain, the man who came through it all. If you do disagree with me then all I have to tell to you is to take your thumb and stick it up your rear and sit on it.
If you don?t, then your attitude should be ? It?s better to burn out than to fade away?
