It Is More Like Commercial Mall With No Facilities

Anyone flying out of Delhi domestic airport is charged Rs 664 as user dev charges and Rs 146 as Passenger services charges by the airport owner. Essentially you pay Rs 800 additional for the passenger/user services but get nothing in return.

The glaring misses are:

  1. There are no seating facility near departure gates. The common seating area is too congested and insufficient.

  2. Almost 70% of the terminal area is rented out to shops and restaurants with passengers having to jostle for getting some free space while waiting for flight.

  3. Lack of charging stations (for charging laptop/mobile) in departure near gates.

  4. There are no wall clocks in the terminal and you need to keep checking your mobile for current time. Essentially, you get nothing for free with this Rs 800 additional burden.

It seems a big scam to charge money from janata for visiting a commercial mall and purchase food/other stuff at sky high prices. The flying facility seems just as an after thought and incidental.

The tough part is that we do not have a choice but to suffer with this sub standard service and paying a high price for it.
