New Delhi

New Delhi , the capital of the ’’REPUBLIC OF INDIA’’.

If you don’t But I do hesitate to call it ’’CAPITAL’’ , looking at New Delhi & calling it the capital of India

would completely change the definition of the capital , Delhi is the capital having inadequate infrastructure for people , with poor sanitation, power supply , commutation facilities , water etc...

Let one be clear of what Capital is all about , a capital is regarded as the centre of all administrative activities at the central level it’s the place where the head of the state(country) resides , where you have apex court of nation , Representatives of forgein countries , highest law making body, legislature.

All in all capital is given the status of Lungs of the nation , people expect that if not other parts of the country but at least the capital should be up to the mark , where there should be no such genuine problems which occur in other cities. But sadly the case is not so in Delhi.

At present we have two types of capitals in the world , one type is of those capitals which are especially designed for administrative purpose , providing much needed astounding administartive infrastructure like that of WASHINGTON D.C (USA) , CANNEBRA (Australia) , OTTAWA

(Canada) , PRETORIA (South Africa) , BRASILIA(Brazil) , ISLAMABAD(Pakistan) , here you have some mindblowing setup for country’s governance.

No business and other activities take place here , these capitals have their seperate setup , away from busy cities of country. They are neat and clean and hence provide hygenic conditions for governance. The city administartion doesn’t need to look into the small, small day today problems.

While on the other hand we have TOKYO(Japan) , BEIJING(China) , LONDON(UK) , PARIS(France) , BERLIN(Germany) , ROME(Italy) sort of capitals which are as thickly populated as New Delhi but are the best in all types of services including commutation , sanitation , power , etc... A.P.J Abdul Kalam wrote in his book INDIA-2020 that ’’it’s simply not possible to give Tokyo , London or Paris a day or week of interupted power supply , because it might become the reason for the fall of governmant’’.

These are also the centres of business and occupies the most IMPORTANT position in their country.

These are the standards that have been set by the Capitals world wide. Now at this stage off 2005 when We Indians have started dreaming of becoming developed in coming 20-30 years , it will be foolishness when anyone says that India or Delhi is far better than African

This is not our standard. When we Indians along with our leaders have already started daring to think beyond 2020 , then its high time for us to find the solution of this problem , problem becomes more serious when it involves CAPITAL of nation.

What is the major problem of New Delhi is its SUDDEN RISE , the commercialisation of city is gathering pace , Businessmen are getting shifted to New Delhi from Mumbai , MNCs Searcing for place in nearby Gurgaon , Noida , Ghaziabad etc... as a result less of space left for furthur develpoment

in already a power problem stricken city. In addtion to that there is still years old technique being used in production of electricity, so HOW THE PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVED.

Moreover we have our Sensex operating in Mumbai , such kind of split makes the life more difficult.

Therefore the solution comes with just two choices Dismantle it or Develop it .

By Dismantle it I mean that snach the status of Capital from Delhi because people of New Delhi cannot enjoy the status of living in CAPITAL , they are still faced with problems which are too complex , too large. Half of the power is utilized in fulfilling the demand of Ministries , Missions , various other

offices besides that you have 10 million!!!! at least ( other than VIPs ) to be taken care of , with poor provisions it becomes impossible.

It would be an embarresment for any nation , so my first Kind suggestion would be to change the capital , let Delhi be simply Delhi , no New , no Old , we can have capital nearby and let the business to go smoothely in Mumbai that is regarded as the commercial capital of India. With the removal of added attraction of ’’capital’’ from Delhi , business will not get split hence we will have one Mumbai.

Just like New York , whcih is the heart of USA(having Nasdaq , large business centres, everything) but the all important WHITE HOUSE is in Washington.

Or Develop Delhi , Develop it in the sense that it starts enjoying perfectly like Second Category Capitals(mentioned above) Paris , London , Tokyo these capitals are also their country’s business centres and their growth is also not affected by secondary problems like Delhi’s.

Shift the Sensex to Delhi , corporate houses should start conducting their business activies here , more importantly the HERITAGE which is in utmost danger in Delhi , the Heritage places which deseved to be surrounded by Guards , Tourists are instead surrounded by grocers , beggers , spitters WOWWWWW WHAT A CAPITAL now compare this thing with any of the developed country’s Capital , IS THE HERITAGE OF ANY OTHER CAPITAL IS IN SUCH A BAD SHAPE.
