From a Parent

My daughter goes to NHG. For those who are looking to admit their children here this review may be useful.

Admission Process: Please note that this differs greatly based on the parents job, qualification and responses during the interaction with the admission staff. We were asked 40k as donation last year altogether and they gave us a receipt under some other fund category. My neighbor was asked 2.5 lakhs the previous day for 2nd standard. My colleague was asked 1 Lakh. I did ask them this question as to why this is different. The lady in charge of the admission was very candid and explained that they are not looking for certain kind of people to join here, so the price is high for them. Now, that certain kind is found using the Test score of the child, Parents job, both the parents edu. qualifications and proximity to school and even the previous institution they studied.

Studies and Extra curricular programs: The school has good teachers. They pay really good salary even as per Bangalore standards is what I learned from a lady who attended a job interview there. Extra curricular activities are very inclusive, that means, most of the children get to participate in them. It’s not like only a selected few ’Teacher’s favorite’ gets to be part of it.

Gurukul: The vedic ancient education etc that they are advertising as a big deal is nothing but 1 hour of class from ISKON guys. ISKON has a very close relationship with this school and if you are not ok with this, please don’t consider this school. My child keeps singing the ISKON bhajans all the time and to some people its a great thing. I personally feel, this is better that ’Sheela ki jawani’ which was on her tongue tip all the time before joining here! Depends upon the way you look at it.

Transportation: Buses are good but the drivers and Aayas are rude and have no regard for children or their age. They are rough kind of people and knows to speak only Kannada. We can speak the local language well so we manage. But still this is one of the sore points in our 1 year of experience here.
