Calcutta is a pretty old place, and the erstwhile Hogg’s market is a remnant of great times gone by.Today , it is called New market.It is pretty difficult to describe what exactly constitutes the total market.There is so much of it really.The TREASURE ISLAND is a full fledged shopping mall.There are a lot of boutiques here.Situated right next to the market, is GLOBE , the famous cinema hall.Among other happening places in New market is Majula’s, Nu York both departmental stores.It is very difficult to get parking space near the market, and in Lindsay street, where the market is situated.Exotic meat is available in the adjoining bazaar, as also fresh cream and canned food.The new extension of the market is a new haunt for many, and is separately called NEW MARKET too.
