The cap is black!

New Zealand seems to be another choice going for the next world cup as they had been quite impressive in the recent matches against different teams in both One Days and tests.....which makes it necessary to write a review about a very valuable team of the current cricket world.....along with waiting for your comments.....

The New Zealand team is now at its best, a team which went to a low state similiar to Zimbawe once, is now the third best team, I think after Australia and India. They have proved it by beating England and Pakistan. They have also beaten South Africa to prove the fact. The team also known as the Black caps is an unavoidable force in the cricket world as they have proved in the recent years very well.

This team has not been able to win a world cup so far even if it has got the talent. Their best was the ICC Knock Out Trophy 2000 (also called the mini world cup) beating India in the finals. But they have not gone beyond the semi finals in world cups and their win - loss record is not good enough. But I think they can improve for sure as they are a stabilised side.....

Stephen Fleming, the New Zealand captain is now the most successful captain of the country. He was the 24th test captain of the side and has given his team most test victories and no one is even near his record or may not be near it soon enough.

He holds the record for the highest score in test cricket abroad. He has saved the team from lots of difficult circumstances by his brilliant captaincy as well as batting. Can he bring the world cup home, that will be the question in every New Zealand cricket fan’s mind.....

New Zealand players have a number of records. Richard Hadlee had most wickets in test cricket before losing the record to Kapil Dev. Geoff Allot holds the record for the longest duck in tests. Nathan Astle has the record of the fastest double century in test cricket. Danny Morrison once had the record of most ducks in tests. Christopher Cairns has hit most sixes in tests.

They still have Chris Cairns and Chris Harris, two of the most valuable all-rounders as well as the quick stroke maker Nathan Astle. Daniel Vettori and Jacob Oram have also proved that they are useful all-rounders. Daryl Tuffey made his presence felt in the absence of the strike bowler Shane Bond, the nightmare of batsmen during the Bond injury.

Unlike the other teams especially India, Black caps were able to be stable in the performance in the last few years. They showed the world that they can be better than any other team after facing lots of criticism in the early years when they hadn’t won even a single major tournament. But now their status is good enough to compete even with the world champions Australia. If they show some presence of mind while playing, they surely can be the toughest side in the cricket world.

Is the New Zealand team the next version of South Africa with the same all-rounder power? It may not be the case, but they surely are strong contendors for the next world cup. Whatever be the series, whatever be the conditions, in any ground, in any pitch, the current New Zealand team is a power house, they just keeps on coming.

The only thing I didn’t like about them was the way they made the pitches when the Indian team visited them last time. They may have did that because the Indians, then had a slight edge over the Black caps. They may have only thought about how to win then.....and their idea just worked perfectly. But the interest in the game was lost as the teams were getting out at 100 and 150 and defending all the time.

ANYWAYS, GOOD LUCK NEW ZEALAND, THE BLACK CAPS.....
