By this time all of you might be aware that I am a news freak guy and I try to find out information about the subject as much as possible. I generally try to stick with current topics and news. news.google.com is one of those sites which I visit every single day and may be 3-4 times a day. I have made this site as my home page.
news.google.com is a subsidiary site of google.com, witch still date is considered one of the fastest internet search browsers. news.google.com uses the same search engine to search the news across the net and creates its headlines. The page is auto generated every 5 minutes.
The front page of news.google.com consists of following links:
1) Top Stories (generally 2 or 3)
2) World (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
3) US (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
4) Business (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
5) Science/Tech (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
6) Sports (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
7) Entertainment (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
8) Health (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
9) More Top Stories (generally 3 or 4 news headlines)
So just front page itself covers most of the topics and it gives you the brief idea about what’s happening in each field weather its breaking news or be it something to deal with business.
Also, then there is each page for all the links I mentioned above except Top Stories. On each page one will find at least 15 to 20 news headlines. Below each headline, there is little summery of the headline plus links to two other articles, which carries similar stories. Then at the bottom of each article headline, one will find link saying 300 related articles. So it gives the reader the choice which article to read depending on that person’s choice and which press he or she trusts.
Also, the best part is there is news search engine on the same page through which one can find the related news by just typing the key words. This gives user the flexibility if he or she is looking something in particular in the news articles.
Major problem with this site is its BIASED-NESS. All the news headlines they post are mostly from US/Briton/Israel. Not only that, Sports/Health/Business/Science sections all covers mostly US and Canadian news. So if you are looking for news related to say Cricket, one has to type that as a keyword in the news search engine to get the news headlines or related stories.
Though, the headlines are biased and makes it to the front page, that sites gives the user the flexibility to find out the articles and news headlines by typing in the key words. Also, by reading US and Canadian news, it gives the reader the view point from American side also, which one may not have noticed by just reading any other news paper.
I personally have found news articles published by UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL more straight forward and to the point. They give fairly unbiased opinion on the subject.
Overall I will rate this site Very Good.
Thanks for reading....
