Never buy from NEXT

I had visited NEXT showroom at the following address:

NEXT RETAIL INDIA LTD.

Old No .G117, New No.G51

JVL Towers, Nelson Manickam Road Aminjikarai,

Chennai and purchased a Sony TV model KV- AW212M83 on 25-10-08. The representative (Mr.Balaji) informed me that only the display piece was available at the showroom and he would arrange to deliver a new / fresh piece at my residence on 27-10-08 between 1 - 2 pm . On this assurance the transaction was carried out.

After 2 PM on 27-10-08 , I called the showroom to check as to why the delivery was delayed and the person who attended the call said that the TV would be delivered after 8 pm. I asked to be connected to the manager but only Mr.Balaji came on line and said that the TV would be delivered before 6 PM. There was no sign of the delivery being made even after 8 pm and upon calling the

showroom I was informed by one of the staff that the the TV would be

delivered by 1030 pm.I tried to call Mr. Balaji several times but he

did not answer the call neither did he call back. At about 1030 I

received a call from the transport driver that he would bring the TV at

about 12 30 am i.e.past midnight . Iam sure you would agree that this

is an unearthly hour to accept any delivery.Hence I requested him to

deliver the TV in the morning .

The TV was finally delivered at 1230 pm on 28-10-08. The following discrepancies were observed while unpacking the Carton.

The Carton was sealed very crudely with brown packing tape and not the original transparent tape. The instruction manual which is to be affixed to the carton flap was missing. On continuing to unpack it was notiiced that the pre-formed thermocole was not used and only pieces of thermocole were inserted

randomly.The

remote control was lying in one corner and two batteries were kept in a

plastic pouch but there was no instruction manual available. The

TV had a lot of finger imprints and was dusty. It was very evident that

this piece was the one that had been displayed at the showroom.

I

contacted the dealer and finally was connected to Mr.Balaji after a

long wait. He initially denied that the piece was the one from the

display but subsequently promised that he would deliver a fresh piece

from the warehouse on 02-11-08.

I personally visited the showroom on

01-11-08 to meet the manager and found that the TV on display was

missing (Same location and space was empty). The Manager Mr.Muthu

feigned ignorance of my ordeal and hence was briefed by Mr.Balaji in my

presence.Subsequent to this , Mr.Muthu assured that fresh pieces were

available at the warehouse and that he would ensure delivery of the

same on or before 04-11-08.

Thereafter I received a call today (03-11-08) from

Mr.Balaji and Mr.Muthu stating that they do not have fresh piece of

this model and asked me to select some other model other than Sony. He

also added that this model was not available anywhere.

The

entire episode has put me through severe mental agony and stress which

was totally uncalled for.  I am sure all of you will agree with me that this deal

has been handled in a very un-professional manner .

Attached herewith are some pics taken while unpacking the carton.
