Think of an **Ability **to watch the **Future** and that too for a minimum of a few minutes ahead, if you have really got this ability then how are you going to use it? Use it to cheat and dupe and earn a living out of it? Well that’s what Cris Johnson(Nicholas Cage) does. He makes out a living as a small time magician in a big city of Las Vegas. And his favourite pastime is gambling and he uses his this specific ability here. It helps him win big time sometimes and if the Casino doubts him, he can foresee it and walk out safe. What an ability, its very cool and helpful.
This same ability of his makes him a national treasure as the FBI is in dire need of person who can help them to find out a plot by terrorists who aim to carry out a nuclear attack. And they end up grounding at Cris, an as usual thing for America( they probably rely more on such people than their trained officers, as in armeggedon as well, where a team of drillers saved the earth). Then how does the FBI with their star agent Callie Ferris(Julianne Moore) find Cris and ask him for help. As a mere coincidence Cris happens to tackle a robber in the casino and grabs the robbers gun which puts the security on alert and he had whisk away with his same abilities and steal a car to drive away and at the same time FBI comes to look for him and frames charges against him. Poor guy Cris tries to escape out of the FBI radar with his same ability and escapes. As it happesn sometime with you, a day of personal crisis may also prove to be the one to bank with, Cris meets his dream girl and finally makes an escape with her.
No more furthur storyline, watch the film and you will definitely know it. The effort put up by the special effects team has been very good as certain scenes in the film were really worthful to watch. But while watching the film you will have the feeling of the film to be incomplete. Certain characters like that of Julianne Moore needs more characterization. The opening scene is very entertaining and so are some more moments. I would like to call it a pure entertainer, nothing more than that. Its your moneys worth, but don’t spend it on purchasing home videos. The most strange thing in this movie is the Haircut of Nicholas Cage, which is ofcourse noticed in a dialouge in the film. Watch it you will certainly enjoy.
