There are number of computer institutes and more are mushrooming all over the country.
But there is still a very clear gap between the ’Good’ ones and the others. I consider NIIT as one of the best training institute as far as computer education is concerned.

Following are some of the highlites of NIIT
- Very good course material. Content researched and approved by many people.
If you compare the course materials of various computer institutes, you will be surprised to know that NIIT is teaching far more things and in great depth than what others are doing.
2. Good qualified and experienced teachers
Well, in general, all NIIT centers have good faculty members, who are technically good and are well mannered. (But I cannot say this for sure for franchise centers)
3. Good teaching methodology and timeliness of course
Generally NIIT faculties are under tremendous pressure from managerment to get the course finished as per the original schedule. Hence the courses run on time. This is good for both the students as well as the centre. Teaching methodology is also good. It has been effort of some research and not adhoc method.
4. Extras... Goodies etc
If you are studying at NIIT, you have access to many other things rather than just your course. But you have to be proactive and go out of your way to utilise these things. For example, you can have faculties extra time, have extra computer time, participate in various activities, get library membership etc etc...
5. Recognized institute
One of the most important point is that NIIT is well recognized and you need not explain much after showing your NIITs diploma. It is given its due respect.
There are several other points as well, but I am stopping right now.

On Negative side, I find following things...
1. Very expensive
NIIT courses are very expensive. Hence it is out of reach of many students. I wish NIIT is accessible to many poor students as well... But it seems this is only a distant dreams.
2. Expectation Management
I feel NIIT centre’s staff talk of logs of things when selling the course. They should talk of practical things and let the student know that it is upto him/her to utilize the course and they can only help them. Promising moon will help nobody.

I have been associated with NIIT for long, have been student of NIIT, worked with it for long time. But this praise is not just because I was staff of NIIT. My thoughts are same even after leaving it.

Finally, I would strongly recommend NIIT for students who are (or have just
finished) in 12th class and want to pursue career in software developement.
This will them enough time, to go through the course in depth and get their
fundamentals clear.
Stay away from ’fast track’ courses.
