National Institute for Information Technology, is this what the acronym, NIIT, really means? Heaven help us all.
I have had the good fortune to have worked in one of the branches. It was a brief employment and I would not have had it any different.If you’re seeking employment here as an instructor or lab assistant, then by all means, this is the right place for you. As an employee, you can only better yourself through their various training programmes and hence upgrade your IT skills gratis!
As a student of this institution, I must, however, warn you of the curriculum meted out to the unsuspecting students. It does occur more often than not, that a student is unaware of the latest software and hardware developments in this dynamic field. Hence, they are ignorant of the quality of the computer education given them.Then there are the 4 year program (degree programs they call ’em). It all sounds very fancy but once you come out of these degree programs, Lo and behold! your degree is obsolete.
NIIT has a good number of qualified and respectable instructors and they cannot be faulted for this erroneous choice of curriculum for the future generation.
For a completely green person in computers, I highly recommend anyone going to this institute. They have a very good foundation course. If your fundamentals are strong, then you will have little or no trouble learning the higher-end applications and software.
In the end, it all boils down to the consumer. Be informed of your choice of institute. A little background checking into your choice of courses and their viability will do good in the long run. Maybe not all the branches of NIIT are the same.I have yet to find out otherwise.
