This review is by a person who has done the complete 3 year course from NIIT and is working in the IT industry for the past 3 years.
I joined during the IT boom period. Some faculties were not upto the mark and certainly not worth the money. These days, NIIT is talking a lot about their placements. The truth is that NIIT provides placements for students; not in tech companies; but in other small time setups, startups and customer care centers. I have a friend who got placed after 6 months at VSNL in Customer Care. After the 1 year completion, he was asked to leave. Needless to say, he hasnt still been placed in any company by NIIT.
As for me, inspite of having topped my batch and having an overall average of 93%, I was placed in a startup with 3 programmers. Thats what NIIT does to you, your career and folks hard-earned money. Oh and btw, I didnt get any recognition or prize for topping 2 batches. This turned to be a problem when I approached the US consulate for a visa; because NIIT doesnt hold any value when you show your qualifications and achievements. Every NIIT center also takes great pains in organising fashion shows, friendship day and other un-related crap.
My advice to IT aspirants. Skip NIIT and other private instiutes. Try the government recognised courses like DOE, NCST, CDAC....
