Nikon Coolpix is a very compact and easy to use camera. I bought the camera when I was is Sydney and it came very handy. No need to be a professional photographer to use it, just follow the instructions in the users guide and you are expert.
The camera is not for professional people as the zoom is just 3x but for normal day to day use, it is the best choice. There are some other digicams in the same category, but what makes coolpix 3100 different is its rather small size and clarity of images.
The maximum pixel size is 3.2M, and that is more than enough. There are hell lot of picture modes to suit all your needs, whether you want to take a pic at beach, or in the nights serenity, at parties and for that matter even portraits. There is something for all.
I bought it for around AUD 350 that is equivalent to Rs. 10, 500. It comes with a 16MB flash card, but you need to atleast put in some more memory which can vary as per you need. I got a 128 MB card for AUD 80 (==Rs. 2400) and that is sufficient for always.
The only problem with Nikon Coolpix 3100 is battery life. It gets exhausted very quickly and it is advisable to keep a spare pair of batteries with you. It was really frustrating for me when I ran out of batteries while visiting the Toronga Zoo in Sydney.
If you are really serious about purchasing a digicam and do not want to spend much too. The Nikon Coolpix 3100 is the answer. I assure you, you wont regret.
