Super zooms are popular for plenty of good reasons but the main attraction is always the huge zoom range. The P510 would be a strong on the length of its zoom alone. Thats how its predecessors succeeded despite middling image quality but Nikon got a lot of other stuff right this time around as well. The P510s massive 42x length is the longest retrieve any camera out there by a long shot. Weve worry before that the zoom ranges are getting outta hand and then it might be at the cost of image quality but if we keep getting cameras like the P510 sign us up for the ride. Fantastical zoom capabilities aside the P510s image quality is strong for point and shoot. Photos are clean and nicely detailed in most situations with realistic colors. Handling is also comfortable thanks to a big grip in textured surface. Its generally easy to use as well. There are a few grapes but by and large they are minor ones. Battery life should be better on an expensive camera like this and the build quality feels a bit cheaper for the price point. GPS doesnt work well in cities and it doesnt offer the same level user control as some of its competitor. However it scores a very good score of 8.5 out of 10 in my opinion. There is still room for improvement but the enormous zoom range, ease of use and strong image quality put the P510 at the top in the super zoom heap.
