I am really surprised to see Kenneth Anderson mentioned here. I read his books a lot (in fact I have a few books that I have read too often and still read them). He has a very simple narration style that conveys a lot. Description of the jungles he roamed in, his experience as a hunter and later as a conservator is simply awful.
I would also suggest reading Jim Corbetts books if you do love reading about wild life. Both had a similar back ground (in that both were white and still managed to mix well with the locals) starting off as diehard hunters and in the later stage of life turned in to diehard conservators. Maneaters of Kumaon, Temple Tiger, Black Panther of Sivanipalli, This is the Jungle are some very good titles that you can read.
Its difficukt to suggest specific books. Read them all...worth the money you will pay.
