Who doesnt love soft, smooth, yummy noodles? The undisputed leader in the Indian noodle market is of course, the good old Maggi. However, there certainly is a relatively easier-to-make, authentic brand of noodles with real vegetables which the market (voilaaaaa) Cup Noodles!!
Preparation:
Cup Noodles is a product of Nissan, the biggest competitor for Nestle Maggi with its brand Top Ramen. However, the recent launch of this 2 minute, no-cooking, hassle free noodle brand has indeed revolutionized the instant food market altogether. It can be prepared even by a 6 year old because all you have to do is to open the box, pour a cup of hot water in it, shut the lid and wait for two minutes for a delicious, healthy snack.
Flavors and accompaniments :
The brand comes in three flavours- Masala, Spicy Vegetable and Chicken. I particularly liked the first one because it adds a spicy, desi touch to the noodles, very different from Maggi masala. There is no need to add any tastemaker or vegetables as they are all in the jar, mixed well too. The vegetarian flavour contains bits of carrots, french beans and cabbage which gives the authentic japanese touch. In any case, you could add some chopped boiled mushroon or fried onions n some chilli sauce to make it more chinese. This yummy plateful (cupful) tastes yummier with some crisp french fries.
Price and suggestions:
Nissan Cup noodles is affordably priced between Rs 15 and 20. The greatest plus point is that it requires absolutely NO cooking (unless u include boiling water on a stove), VERY VERY easy to prepare and time saving. However, the range of flavours could be increased as there is not much choice both for the vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions. Nissan could consider tomato, cheese and sour cream onion flavours for a start and then proceed to the european cuisine taste which is more welcome in India that the far-east cuisine.
In all, Cup Noodles is a great launch by Nissan, a welcome change from Maggi.
