I have had successive Nissan Sunny keys breaking in the door lock in less than 2 years and 30k km. Never ever had this happen with any car in my several decades of driving. I can see clearly the keys are brittle and of shoddy quality, but the service centre will not agree.
They want to charge me 45k for changing the lock set as they say the broken key in the door lock cannot be taken out. Customer care is in Mumbai and does not understand what the issue is, a mail sent has elicited no response yet, car is in extended warranty and shoddy keys are manufacturing defect, which the service centre does not even wish to acknowledge.
Definitely puts me off Nissan big time and I shall be filing a consumer court complaint and shall not pick the car from their service centre. Even when multinationals come to India they quickly get into the same shoddy service habit assuming no one will be able to legally take them to task. Let us see.
