Celebration Rum

There’s nought no doubt so much the spirit calms as rum and true religion" – Lord Byron

If you are rum drinker and thinking of shifting to some other drink then wait a minute, here is a time for Celebration, Mc Dowell has come out with “Celebration”. It is some where between the ‘worst’ and the ‘best’Rum. . Particularly for lower end users. It has less stench than another well known rum “OM.”.

And the entry of Celebration has helped in bringing down the price of OM. In Bangalore OM is priced at 130/- for 750 ml. Celebration costs around175/-. Both are worth the price.

If u wonder why one would drink this foul smelling liquid which look like ingine oil, there are so many myths centered around Rum. Rum(or any alcohol) has a soothing effect so it is fed to horses. Some people think that the strength of the race horses is due to the consumption of Rum:-) .Some other think that it boosts our libido.Though none of them are true, the business of Rum goes on.we just have to see how the rum is made.

Rum is made from molasses. Molasses is over 50% sugar, but it also contains significant amounts of minerals and other trace elements, which can contribute to the final flavor. Rums made from cane juice, primarily on Haiti and Martinique, have a naturally smooth palate.

Depending on the recipe, the "wash"(the cane juice, or molasses and water) is fermented, using either cultured yeast or airborne wild yeasts, for a period ranging from 24 hours for light Rums up to several weeks for heavy, full varieties. So just enjoy the rum, forget all the myths.
