Well, thats a funny title I would say. But then again, I have a more unique one too. Like, Very few entries for Salman, especially in the second half! But then that would disappoint the actors fans which they actually wont be on the whole once the movie is concluded. The reason being that the seasoned actor doesnt need excess screen place to make his presence felt. He rocks, especially when it comes to comedy.
Getting to the review---Anees Bazmee mastered the art of romantic drama with Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha where he made the Kajol-Ajay pair rise well with the audiences. When he was attempting a thriller next, people mightve doubted his versatility. But Deewangee was good enough a reason to silence all the detractors. Ajays career got an all new dimension as the talented actor zoomed into the A-Listers. Here, Anees comes attempting what might be the hardest genre of all, especially for a first-timer. Has Anees done the trick or has he finally failed? Does he complete his hatrick or does he fall one short? Well, with a sensational starcast of hunks like Salman, Anil, and Fardeen, and seductresses like Lara, Bipasha, and Celina, alongside some fresh and breezy music and an overall refreshing outlook, Bazmee had already won half the battle. Literally his detractors mustve felt the hatrick coming closer. To reveal the answer, Anees Bazmee does complete the hatrick and how! Well WOW!
As soon as the movie starts, one realizes that the tactical promotion was justified---right from the initial reels one starts feeling the money getting worthed. Anil Kapoor is the mainstay in these portions, especially when Fardeens character enters and provides him more support. Laras hilarious one liners only add to the dimensions, a perfect answer to those who think of this movie as one-dimensional which of course, it is not by any means. Anyways, coming back to the point, once Salman Khan enters the zone, the movie becomes all the more entertaining. The two Khans and the uncanny Kapoor team up to give all the other hunks a run for their money. The way Salman plays his cards against Anil, the way Anil plays his cards to save himself and set up Salman, and the way Fardeen plays his cards to save himself from involvement in this messed up situation, is what the whole film is all about. In between, all the jokes are of course what make this movie highly dimensional. Even though co-incidence is used to entertain in an excessive manner, a comedy movie is never made to identify a logic, it rather defies it to entertain the audiences hungry for all that laughter.
In terms of technique, NO ENTRY is a notch above its recent competitors. It has a fresh feel to it throughout, be it the promotion, the camerawork, the cinematography, the choreography, the execution, all are well done jobs! Bazmee utilizes his aces very well here in this movie. He was well prepared and did his homework, it seems, to verify his success this time around. In his own department of direction, he is next to perfect as his execution is splendid. Even the screenplay and editing are fantastic as the laughs dont appear reduntant and dragging to me as they did to some reviewers. All the more the greater the quantity of fun, the better it is in the name of the genre. In terms of music, Ishq Main stands out with decent choreography as well, however its abrupt placement in the narrative is absurd, for the lack of a better term.
It is hard to pick the black horse when everyone chips in wonderfully with their parts. Yet, I would pick Anil Kapoor. In the guesthouse sequences, as well as those in the disco as a shareef aadmi, especially in the title song, he brings the house down with his performance and expressions. An immediate week after MWM, a serious and logic-based movie, Anil defies the logic and comes up with a performance that one can only picture him execute. Another reviewer Prasidddha, a diehard SRK fan approved of Anil as the only person to have executed this one this well, so you can yourself imagine how Anil mutliplies his fan following post Musafir and pre-Chocolate. Way to go! Lara Dutta as the suspecting housewife displays some versatility and substance for a change. Her peformance is certainly entertaining, but very over-rated as well by a lot I would say. She isnt amongst the show stealers to me despite that decent performance. In ladies, Bipasha is the only one worth being called the ashow stealer! She is hot and rocking, as well as witty and hilarious. Her chemistry with all her co-stars is fantastic. Esha Deol gets limited scope while Celina Jaitley gets another raw deal, better than Esha but behind the other two. Yet, she gives a decent account of herself in the second half besides appearing gorgeous and stunning throughout.
Fardeen Khan is highly underrated. I would say he rocks in this movie. He has to go through emotions like a dogs bark, and yet he doesnt sound irritating, he is rather quite cute and likeabe throughout. His hairstyle appears cool and one wishes he displayed it more had that hat not have been a part of his character. Yet, overall, a decent performance by the youngest of the guys who deserves a round of applause. Certainly he is not a brilliant performer, but his sincerity shows, thus making him to be one of the show stealers! Ditto for Salman Khan who is dashing throughout and proves that he is becoming the king of comedies after the likes of MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI and MAINE PYAR KYUN KIYA. Hats off to him too as he adds all the needed starpower to this one!
Overall, No Entry is poised for Box Office success! One can expect complete time-pass plus unlimited entertainment and a big paisa and time vasool from this one.
Do comment folks!
