ENTER THE FUN ZONE

In the time where most producers opt for a short term aggressive promotion for their films, Boney Kapoor’s ‘No Entry’ is an example of long term exhausted promotion. From the past six months the trailers were on air. If this was not enough the film ran into another trouble just before the releasing. Even till Friday it wasn’t sure whether the film will actually hit the theatres. Addition to the mayhem the prints failed to reach at many places at right time. Here in Cochin though I attended fist day first show of the film, it was Sunday noon show. But apart from these if we talk about the film it was a complete entertainer, ‘bole to paisa vasool’. Till now u must have been aware that the film has no similarity with ‘masti’, as was the speculation. Then what it’s about? Let’s check out. Starcast: Prem: salman shirtless khan Pooja: esha flat-abs deol Kishan: anil veteran kapoor Kaajal: lara gorgeous dutta Sunny: farden provogue khan Sanjana: Celina bikini jaitley Bobby: bipasha deadly basu p. k. gupta: boman hilarious irani Story: No Entry starts from a scene showing a small trailer of Kishan’s daily torment by his suspicious(but in a funny way!) wife Kaajal, who is always desperate to find her husband red-handed one day. Just opposite to this couple is Prem and Pooja .While Prem is flirt to the core, Pooja is the epitome of ‘pativrata bhartiya nari’ who has more faith in her husband even than god. Apart from these two married couples there is one ready-to-be-married couple too. Sunny and Sanjana. The problem starts when Prem incites Kishan to have an affair with Bobby. After initial hesitations Kishan agrees to put his legs in two boats simultaneously, but for that he will have to lie, which normally he couldn’t think of. One lie after another and the Director takes you to a hilarious and rib-tickling journey that has come sure after a long time. Performances: 1st couple: Anil Kapoor is once again in fine form after “my wife’s murder”. In both the films he has portrayed a hapless husband being tortured by a suspicious wife, the only difference was that where the former was a tragedy, this one is a comedy. In one month itself, Anil has proved his mettle twice. Lara Dutta after performing enough glam-doll kind of roles finally got her first full fledged role and surprisingly she has done exceedingly well. Apart from looking glamorous (of course! by default!!) and gorgeous, at which she excels every time this time she excelled at much more than that. 2nd couple: Black-bucks case:his career is in danger! Rash driving case:this time it will be really difficult for him! Aish tape controversy: he is going 2 be finished this time: “Finish” this word seems to be nowhere in Salman Khan’s dictionary. I still remember summer of 98 when I saw “pyaar kiya to darna kya”, and how entire theatre went on rampage as Salman took off his shirt. And even till now, in 2005 also the scene is still same, just the moment he appears on screen, and the show (off screen) starts. This is the scene in Kerala; just imagine what would be the scene in North India. Though he may not displayed enough histrionics like Anil, but between him and stardom there has been always only 1 obstacle. “HIS SHIRT”, the moment he removes the obstacle, he is a superstar. As his lady love Esha Deol isn’t there much in the film (luckily!) and whatever time she is there, either she boast of her husband’s love for him or consoling her ‘didi (lara) dutta’. This ‘sati-sawitri’ kind of role was actually not suitable for her, especially after her dare-bare show in ‘Dhoom’. 3rd couple: The most glamorous couple, one is arguably the best bikini babe in the country. Another is the style icon of all the gen-X type of youngsters. (Ok, Ok: along with Saif, happy?) Fardeen showed some promise in ‘Dev’ but comedy is seriously not his business. Though he tried hard, but the worst part is anybody can find out that he is trying. As for Celina, the whole word ‘acting’ is not her business. She can sure burn the ramp with her oomph and drop-dead looks. She can also be a fabulous item girl, but as an actress she has to go a long way. The Rest:Bipasha Basu looks hot and and flaunts her body without any hesitation. Her character seems to be mainly aimed at male audiences and it is quite clear by the dumb expressions given by her in various scenes. Boman Irani hasn’t been provided enough screen time but whenever he appears, he makes his presence felt. The guy playing bipasha’s bhaiyya and saiyya simultaneously has done a great job. Dinesh Hingoo as travel agent in Mauritius is also a pleasure to watch. As David Dhawan says “comedy is indeed a serious business”. Anees Bazmee must be lauded for his wonderful job. After the romantic interlude in ‘pyaar to hona hi tha’ and psychic affair in ‘Dewaangi’, he has successfully managed a comedy this time. MUSIC:This one can be controversial: As for the music review, the film didn’t get many positives. People were accusing ‘Anu’ of delivering mediocre and “chaalu” kind of music. Some were remembering his ‘Refugee’ days. But for me, every song onscreen was a delight to watch because this movie is no refugee, and the kind of movie it is the songs are the best matching pair for it .Of course added to this is the ample support of brilliant camerawork of some exotic and picture-perfect locales, where the film has been shot. Chalte-Chalte: Though the film is full of witty dialogues and one-liners, some of them which really bring the house down are: 1) Anil saying repeatedly: “kaajal jaldi karo, warna tumhari flight miss ho jaayegi” 2) Anil again saying repeatedly: “kaajal jaldi karo, warna picture shuru ho jaayegi” 3) Anil: “don’t worry Sunny, ab maine jhoot bolna shikh liya hai” Fardeen replying: ’’kahin aap mushse bhi to jhoot nahi bol rahe”. 4) Bipasha’s boyfriend telling Anil: “bhai sahib, aapko reliance ki kasam, aap apni biwi ko meri biwi se milana zaroor, taaki who bhi kuch seekhe”DON’T FORGET TO ENTER YOUR VALUABLE COMMENTS AND RATE THE REVIEW AFTER READING.
