A Gripping Movie with Outstanding Performances

Most of my fellow citizens, who would be 20 plus, would have surely read or heard about this sensational murder case.

A budding model, Jessica, is shot dead at a high profile party. Her fault was not serving a drink to a bunch of brash youngsters, one of whom was son of state cabinet minister.

As usually happens, the witnesses are bought off or intimidated through brute money power by the politician’s henchmen, the police is bribed and after a long ordeal, the court pronounces-NO ONE KILLED JESSICA.

The judgement shocks a TV media anchor, who then goes about systematically exposing the rot in the system, ultimately leading to conviction of the guilty.

The moot point is-This has really happened in our country, where the powerful class has to bow down to people’s awareness and the true justice prevailed. The movie is made in a unconventional manner-there are no violent dishum-dishum, there are no "munni badnaam hui" songs, there is no crude comedy like Tees Maar Khan.

The movie scores with its tight, gripping story, balanced portrayal of emotions, not distracting from its core theme and on top of it one of the finest performances delivered by Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee. Vidya has done complete justice to her role of the the younger sister of Jessica and this would count as one of her outstanding performances.

Rani, has again proved she can be as good an actress as she is a heroine. Both the leading ladies have ably carried the movie on their shoulders. The only disappointing point is A certification by the Censor Board. These kind of movies are meant for masses, for making them aware all is not lost in our system.

A must watch for all cinegoers-they would surely come back in a somber mood. Let’s raise a toast to the producers and director of the movie for having the courage to make a real life story, not a masala flick.
