I realized when I read Abbeys review of this site, that it was one I used to have bookmarked and lost. If you like Freebie sites, this is the best. The freebies are sorted into categories several ways-new, best, received etc. I would typically scan the new section about once a week and then check those I was interested in on the received list. This maximizes the possibility that you will actually receive what youve requested. I received many samples through this site. I do recommend it if you like freebies and have a few minutes to spare. I would like to offer some suggestions for using this and other sites.
Be cautious about what you send for. Think about it-companies and organizations give out freebies for one of two basic reasons-they want you to try a product or they want to get your name on a mailing list. The first are usually pretty harmless-the junk email is minimal. The second requires much more investigation. As mentioned in Kahfessreview, reading the privacy statements is crucial. You also need to uncheck EVERY place that asks if they can contact you about other things.
Be cautious about the information you give. Obviously, to get the sample there needs to be a mailing address. Ive found on most sites, I can place a random 10 digit number or the word unlisted in the telephone space. Theres no reason to give your actual birthdate, income etc.
Keep a separate email account for freebies. Choose one of the free email services (yahoo, hotmail etc.) I have one Yahoo account just for this kind of thing-freebies, newsletters etc. I check the box weekly. About once a year I close the account and create a new one.
They have freebies you dont use? Heres an opportunity for creative charity. Homeless shelters and other programs are always looking for personal care items-shampoo, soap etc. Keep a box of freebies and drop them off at a local shelter or food pantry whenever it gets full.
Want to try something and no ones offering it as a freebie or its out? Go to the manufacturers web site and email them and ask for one. Youll be surprised how often this works!
The best places I ever found for finding and checking out freebies are message boards. Find an active freebie board whose members like what you like and youll know about all the free stuff out there.
Happy Freebie Hunting!
