Nok is a smiling bird!

Nok Air(DD) is Thai Airways’s low cost carrier. This airline’s hub is Don Muang airport ( Old Bangkok Airport). All aircrafts from Don Muang is 737-400. The business class upgrade is only 500 bhats. As of now, they don’t have any international flights.

To compete with Air Asia, they choose abolish Thai airway’s working culture. They choose also be consistent with profitable destination like Phuket. It’s CEO’s job to make the flight full. Previously, Nok air conducted many many nonsense activities to promote the airlines. I wonder if the current CEO or marketing manager used to work in Airline industry before.

Thai Airway has always been the burden of Thailand’s taxpayers. If Nok Air cannot truly independant from Thai Airways, they will not make any profits. Recently, they just took over PB air, so Suvannabhumi airport became the secondary hub. Flights to Hua Hin, Lam Pang, Sakon Nakon, Roi et, Nakon Panom, Buriram and Nan are operated at Suvannabhumi Airport.

To pay for the ticket, if you don’t have a credit card, you can also pay at 7-eleven or pay at the atm machine. I took NoK air’s flight last week to Trang, a small province next to Krabi on my business trip ( The flight’s time is 70 minutes). Trang airport is very very small. It’s hard to believe that it’s a home province of Mr.Chuan, a former prime minister during year 1998.

To be honest, I prefer taking plane from Don Muang as it costs less to take a taxi from my house to get to this airport. To get to New Bangkok Airport, I have to take 2 expressways. The airport link train will not be opened until August.

With Nok Air, You can choose your seat on line without paying any extra fee, they also check your bag with no charge. Inside the aircraft, it looks exactly like Thai airways aircraft. Thus, it is more comfortable than Air Asia’s seat. The flight crews dress in yellow. They have their own title with Nok in front of their nickname.

They serve Auntie Anne’s sausage ( free of charge), one cup of coffee costs 30 bhats which is less than 1USD. It is funny that no credit card payment is accepcted on board. However, their inflight magazine doesn’t look good. From Chiang Mai, they have flights to Pai, Mae Hon Son and Chiang Rai.
