Comparing Apples with apples

Comparing a 2100 with a 1100 sounds to me like comparing apples with apples. They tell us not t compare apples with oranges, but in this case I feel that both the apples are same and there is not much to go into comparison.

Anyway, let me do my best to compare and contrast the phones:

Which came first, the egg or the chicken..2100 say some, but the 1100 was conceptualized for the Indian market, atleast should say that the ad says so.

Both the phones have the usual ’’Nokia’’ green background display with the white light (tube-light to be exact)

A four line display to display exactly what is typed for a 3310 or a 3315, which is a boon for the new mobile phone holders. I own a 6600 and I cannot make head or tail out of what the graphic(ascii) means, when it is sent from 3310, and the same in a 1100/2100 would be so nice to see and enjoy.

X-Press On covers have become a common feature of Nokia. Should say that the duplicate covers now started looking more fancier than the original Nokia ones anc cost cheaper also. One major advantage of this X-Press On cover which I felt (as I had a 7650 where the cover cannot be changed) is that the top glass which you see is of the cover and your phone display is absolutely safe. Once it is a fixed one like in a 7650, and if it gets scratched, you will need to spend a fortune to change it.

Rythmic backlight is one un noticed feature in almost all the latest Nokia phones (should I say the ’’old looking’’ latest) which started with the Nokia 3350(man that was a good start for Nokia, I should say).

Ringtones are monophonic and the greatest advantage is that you can still send and receive ringtones to and from your friends. Both these phone have a ringtone composer.

Both have a considerably good phone book memory to store phone book entries and also a full display screen saver, just to show that this feature is an enhancement of the All-time favorite 3310.

T9 text input is present in both, SMS to many , Calculator, Stop watch, currency converter are all standard features.

Now coming to the DIFFERENCE between the two:

Nokia 2100 is only 85 gms and dimensions are 105 x 44 x 20 mm, 77 cc

but a Nokia 1100 is 86 gms and measures 106 x 46 x 20 mm, 79cc

Huge number difference, isn’t it ;)

The 1100 has a flash light. Its really useful, I never knew I would use it, but it saved my eyes once, when light was really required and we were driving.

The 1100 has an unique kind of keypad because of which it is called the dust-free mobile. Of all the mobile phones Nokia has ever produced, 1100 does not have gaps between the keys (dust can still scrape in through the sides, atleast the area is reduced)

Look wise I would suggest a 1100, even though 2100 looks smaller. Also that the 1100 is the latest offering from Nokia and is just ’’Made for India’’

Jai Hind..Finland is making money through this review, and that is for sure!!!
